Team Selection Our weekend teams are selected by our committees on Wednesday evening before weekend fixtures. Mid-week trial performance is taken into consideration as well as previous match performances and the opinions of our coaches. This builds to the selection of the Varsity Match sides which is in the 6th week of Hilary. To get involved you need to trial and practice with our squads on a Wednesday. So introduce yourself to our committees by email, tell us about your golfing experience, handicap, any notable golfing achievements and the degree that you’re reading. We’ll involve you in our Wednesday trial sessions and it is up to you what happens from there. Our teams take some Wednesdays to practice with our coaching team. These practice days are also crucially important to selection because our coaches have a significant input into how our weekend teams and how the all important Varsity sides are selected, so make sure you work hard and put the hours in with our coaching team for your own benefit as well as to improve your selection chances. We play predominantly matchplay golf where handicaps can be misleading, but roughly speaking if you’re under 10-15 handicap for men and 15-25 for ladies you have a chance of playing for one of the teams. The handicap range in the Men’s Blues side last year was +2 – 4. The Current Team The 2011 intake has proved to be a good one for the University and the Blues have made a strong start.
